- SHIAVUX DAVER
On Sunday 30th April at 6.a.m we started for Matheran. We went by the Karjat Local. I was very excited because my Mummy had told me we would have to change at Neral and go in the small mountain railway which I longed to see.
After every station I asked “Will the next station be Neral?” but after I had asked for many times my Mummy at last said “Yes, the next station will be Neral.” When the train stopped I jumped out.
The mountain railway was narrow gauge. There were three way side stations on the way up. The rocks were about three feet away from the train.
We stayed at Mrs. Lord’s Hotel. We all had programmes and we did every thing according to the programme. On the 1st of May we went to the Monkey Point, Louisa Point and Echo Point. On the 2nd we went to Charlotte Lake, Shivaji’s Ladder Danger path. On the 3rd we went out on a whole day picnic to the Panorama Point. We took our breakfast with us but Mrs. Lord sent our lunch and tea to Panorama Point with her servants. On the 4th we went to Porcupine Point, Alexandra Point and Garden Point. From every Point we had a good view.
Our coming journey was just as successful and pleasant as the going journey.
