The Autobiography of a School Bag

The Autobiography of a School Bag

- John Nailer – When in Std VII.

Though my life-story stats on a sad note, I want you, to know that considering all other points, I have had quite a lively and interesting existence.
My life started after the death of a sheep who owned me as his skin and fleece. I was neatly removed from the sheep, and after a short process of drying, was sent to a tannery, where the wool from my outer surface was carefully removed. Here I entered a "curing-vat" which consisted of a liquor containing the bark of a certain tree. This liquor-bath resulted in my reaching a fully tanned stage. I was then dried, and after passing through a series of rollers which softened me, I was sent to a leather factory. At this factory I was selected from several other hides, to be cut and sewn into the shape of this SCHOOL BAG you, now see I am. My next journey was to a very large shop, where I rested elegantly for a few days before I was bought by Master Pradeep Jalundhiwala, who carefully printed his name on me, and has since used me to carry his class-books from home to school, and back again every day. I am very happy at present, and enjoy the trips I make daily in my owner's car, and I hope to live for many more years to come, and spend lots of happy days in the company of my owner. Though I may be just a skin, I n size I'm rather deep, I carefully carry school books within for owner, and friend, Pradeep.
