- Harry Kelly – When in Std VII.
The eagle is "The King of the Birds"
Which title is not at all absurd
For he is strong and fast in flight
Putting all other birds to fright
He has eyes that are very keen
Prying down from his eye unseen
His prey he takes with his beak and claws
Then, as swiftly swooped, so swiftly soars
His nest he builds upon a cliff
A lofty place with a climb too stiff
He has no friends, but only a mate
And has to face old Nature's fate
His feathers' are sometimes golden yellow
Making him look too bright a fellow
Or else they are somber grey
Enough to frighten one away
He has a cruel hooked beak
And strong legs with clawed feet
His body is large with powerful wing
Just as befitted a true king
On his flights he surveys his kingdom
But his feathered subjects have little freedom
Ever watchful when they fly
In case King Eagle's passing by
