Republic Day

Republic Day

 - Rishi Balse when in class III–B

Republic Day is celebrated on the 26th of January. We know that India became an independent country on 15th August 1947 but the constitution of India came into force only on 26th January, 1951. We celebrated Republic Day in school on Saturday, 26th January. I prepared for Republic Day by practicing to stand while the National Anthem was being played. Mr Mukund Murthy was our Chief Guest and he and Mr Machado hoisted the flag. Then we had the parade which was led by Mr Nathan (who was very funny). The other groups like R.S.P, the N.C.C, the Scouts and the School Council participated in the parade. We listened to the speech and were made aware about domestic violence in India and how some women are ill treated. Then Mr. Mukund Murty inspected all the various groups. Some boys performed a dance which was very nice. Photographs of our cub packs were clicked and while we were on our way out we were given chocolates! I liked the march past a lot because it was very well organized and the dance because it was very patriotic.
