Nature Club Camp

Nature Club Camp

 - Parshva Jhaveri when in class VI–B

On the 22nd of February, 2013 we were all very excited as we were going to Silent Hill Resort Manor for our Nature Club camp. We left for Manor at dawn and a two hour journey transported us to the Silent Hill Resort. The Silent Hill Resort is on the banks of the Manor River, It bears extreme beauty and greenery flourishes all around it. It was a good spot to observe nature. After sometime we were allotted our rooms and proceeded towards them.
The moment I entered the room I was overjoyed to see a spacious and neat room with two beds enough for all our group members to sleep peacefully. The bathroom was also clean and brilliant and we also had a veranda which overlooked the emerald green river. I did not feel like leaving the room!
The meals that were provided to us were also delicious and there were several varieties of dishes.
Honestly, I thought that the camp food would be exceptional but this was certainly tastier than I expected it to be. Many dishes like pasta, noodles, soups, Ice creams and many more mouth–watering dishes were prepared. We relished the food at the resort. The activities organized by our teachers and guides were really fun and informative.
We went on a nature trail in which we saw many birds like the Black Drongo, Crow Phesant, Sunbird and vibrant coloured butterflies. We learnt about how biogas plants function and the various uses of biogas and its effectiveness. We were also briefed about verrmicompost and how a certain type of bees helps us. Other than this we played interesting games like water conservation in which we had to fill a bottle with the help of a spoon and collecting items with letters of A to Z only from nature and also an obstacle race.
We also visited an organic farm which was completely eco–friendly and was run by foreign volunteers who were friendly and told us about agriculture. On the farm several different kinds of crops were grown and we made pots of cow dung and mud and planted concus seeds in extremely fertile soil. The day we were leaving we were sad but we thoroughly enjoyed the camp. According to me, this camp was a wonderful combination of nature, education and fun.
We discovered that nature is very hardworking and loyal to us in many different ways and preserving it would do us a lot of good. I really enjoyed the camp and I wish the future generations can get a glimpse of one of God’s most valued gifts, Nature.
