There was a certain farmer who wished a portrait of his dead father to be painted as a memento. So he went to a famous painter and ordered the portrait. The painter objected that as he had never seen the farmer’s father he could not paint him. The farmer described his father for the artist who did his best to paint a portrait according to the description. When the portrait was painted he invited the farmer to inspect it. The farmer doing so explained in surprise “My goodness! How my father has changed since his death!”
