The school register opened full of promise on the note of a hundred strong. Rev. Fr. Savall continued his well per formed office but among the staff Miss McHugh had replaced Miss Milton had left for England the previous year and whose place had temporarily been filled by Miss Wells. The scout troop had waxed strong and could now divide itself in to four patrols. I a proud array the scouts and cubs marched to the Cooperage where His Excellency Sir John Colville inspected our neo-183rds.
During February the troop enjoyed a three day camp at Goregaum; in March the cubs disported worthily in their sports at ST. Xavier’s play ground while later in the same month the scouts tilted for their sporting honors at the Cooperage on which occasion did our Scouter Mr. Lobo acquit himself well in his section race.
The mid year saw the newly opened standard VI suffer its swan song. Of course St Xavier’s and St Mary’s graciously absorbed the displaced pupils. Brother Augustine Wetzel left for America. In August Campion School grieved very intimately in the tragedy at Paramount Pictures Ballard Estate Office for the Gangulli brothers of standard III lost their father in that dreadful fire disaster.
In October Rev. Fr. Savall met the St. Luke’s Medical Guild before which he read his very cogent answer to that controversial question ‘Artificial fecundation’. Coming to the finale months the scouts participated in the Scouts Dramatic Completion at St. Xavier’s School Hall, Fr. Savall being one of the Judges.
December 1st again saw its traditional and beautiful First Communion Pageant. The Prize Distribution followed on the 4th. when the Dr. (Mrs.0 Noronha Scholarship went to Master Albert Loverday. Mr. Luxa presented the school with two silver awards for sports and the curtain went down on the play ‘The Microbe Man’
