- Jiro Kiriyama – When in Std IV
Some of us who go to school walking find it very dangerous to cross the road because there is a great deal of traffic in this city. So when crossing the road, we should watch the signals or the policeman who guides the traffic. We should know what the signals mean: ¬there are three coloured lights, yellow, green and red. The red light means "stop", the yellow light means "get ready", and the green means "go". By watching these lights, we know what to do. There is another sign "pedestrian crossing" which is marked on the roads by two white lines. and we must cross between these two lines. When many roads cross each other there is a police-man who stands on an island and guides the traffic with his arms and by watching him we know when to cross. The policeman is our friend. He guides all the traffic on streets and makes it easy and safe for us to cross. He also helps us to find our way when we are lost. He guards the streets and houses from thieves at night when we are asleep.
