- Solomon Jacob - When in Std VI
I remember the storm we had a few years back, very clearly. The news¬papers gave us a warning that the storm would break the next day at about 10. o’clock in the- morning.
That night we went to sleep with our minds disturbed. When we awoke the next morning there was a gale blowing at about 50 miles an hour, we could hear the wind whistling through the trees. Suddenly the skies darkened and there was. a clap of thunder and a flash of lightning and the storm broke, and in the space of 5 minutes the storm was at full fury. After many an hour of rain the streets were flooded and people were wading in knee-deep water. Many trees were blown down and cars too, were stranded. Now the fury of the storm lessened and the flood reduced. The sky was clear and a rainbow had formed. We were again feeling cheerful, and we decided to drive in our car and se9 what damage had been caused. Most of the roads were blocked by the trees' which had been up¬rooted during the storm and so we had to take a roundabout way. Many over¬ head wires were knocked down and our current supply was cut off for the day. We were happy that the storm was over and went to sleep that night hoping the next day would be much brighter.
