Reflections on our Kashmir Trip

Reflections on our Kashmir Trip

- Garth Grimmer – When in Std VII

A group of scouts under Father More
On their way to Kashmir spoke folk-lore
Gwalior, Agra and Delhi they explored
Longer stops and more sights implored.

The train they left and a bus did board
And each boy sank as happy as a lord
But the Himalayas with all their glories
Made them relate expedition stories.

At Srinagar, two house-boats they hired
And with enthusiasm they were fired
To swim, fish, boat-race and canoe
Visit the Shalimar which they left with rue

Strawberries and cherries they had galore
And rosy apples they ate to the core
The National Anthem and Flag Study busied the boys
While books and Radio Programmes gave many joys.

Sheik Abdulla they visited one noon
A mountain they decided to climb soon
And snow they saw, held and did all
But make a snowman instead of a ball

The merry month of May drew to an end
And back to their home-town they did wend
But in every boy's memory he treasures
Father More's care and Kashmir pleasures.
