1967: Patrol Leader 43rd East Bombay Scout Troops. Invested with the highest rank in scouting as President Scout.
1966: Stood second in the 50 meters Free Style for seniors at the Annual Scout Swimming Competition. Stood first in the 5 mile race (juniors) conducted by the Maharashtra State Cycle Association. His timing was 15 minutes 37.6 seconds. Stood second in the English Essay Competition conducted by the Maharashtra United Nations Association (MUNA)
Adisher (Adi) Ratan Bulsara was born on 15th May 1951.He is a scientist in the area Nonlinear Dynamics. He studied under the Nobel Prize winner Ilya Prigogine. The 2007 International Conference on Applied Nonlinear Dynamics (ICAND), held in Kauai, Hawaii, was a festschrift held in his honor of his 55th birthday.
He was born in Bombay, India, attended the Campion School and presently resides in San Diego, USA. He is married to Marcia and has two children. On his paternal side, he is a cousin of Freddie Mercury and on his maternal side he is a second cousin of Zubin Mehta. In his younger days he was keen cyclist and competed in various cycling events.
He obtained his PhD in physics from the University of Texas at Austin, under the Nobel Prize winner Ilya Prigogine, in 1978. His thesis was entitled, Entropy, Stability and Fluctuations in Lasing Systems. He is a Senior Researcher with the U.S. Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, (SPAWAR), San Diego, California, USA where he leads the Applied Chaos and Dynamics Group that specializes in applications of nonlinear dynamics. He is the author of more than 100 articles in the physics literature. His primary research area is in the physics of noisy nonlinear dynamic systems.
Honors
In 2004, Bulsara was elected to Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) "for fundamental contributions to the theory of nonlinear dynamics and the development of groundbreaking applications in classical, solid and fluid mechanics, neuroscience, and cognitive psychology." His festschrift in honor of his 55th birthday, for logistic reasons, was held when he was 56.
