Born at Lahore he was one of Campion's highly qualified members of the teaching staff.
Mr. Pran Bhal (born 22nd September 1927) joined Campion on 6th June 1962. He was an MA LLB Bed ‘Ratna’. He taught Hindi and Sanskrit. While he readily gave a helping hand to students who approached him he always insisted on inculcating in them the reading habit because he was the assistant librarian till he retired. Besides helping children prepare for Hindi Elocution he was also the ICSE Chief Supervising Examiner. In the early 80s he and myself worked together with the Teachers Welfare Fund and was with me one of the trustees of the school Provident Fund for many years.
A very strict disciplinarian who would tolerate no nonsense yet was able to maintain a very good relationship with students. He was truly a friend philosopher and guide to his students. He was highly respected and feared by his pupils, his teaching was very much appreciated by different Principals, his colleagues on the teaching staff parents and students. He was a well read man and was well versed in various topics ranging from Astrology to Zoology. Every boy had all his written assignments corrected and for this he was always complemented by parents and Principals. He was such a painstaking man that he spent long hours in the staff room, the library or wherever he was examining exercise books. His devotion to teaching was reflected in the results of the public examinations and the Hindi Rashtra Basha results.
Before coming to Campion he taught at St Xaviers Academy and the Tutorial School. After a long innings as a teacher of more than three decades he retired from Campion in April 1989 feeling very satisfied that he had given the best years of his life to this noble profession.
He retired in 1989 after serving the school for 27 years. Mr. Bhal passed awayon 11th September 2003 at the age of 76 years.
